The infamous Tour of Qinghai Lake has been attracting top riders and teams from all around the world. This year, 60 teams submitted their application to this race. 22 teams have now confirmed their appearance in July, 2015, which include 1 UCI WorldTeam, 3 UCI Pro-Continental Teams and 17 UCI Continental Teams. The number of starting riders per team is reduced to 7 from 9 in order to fit the trend of world cycling road races.
It is worth mentioning that the UCI WorldTeam Lampre-Merida will also attend the Tour of Qinghai Lake this year. Lampre-Merida was here 2 years ago. The Italian team has now signed Chinese rider Xu Gang and Jun-kai Feng. Their performance is highly anticipated by fans.
5 Chinese teams has confirmed their attendance. They are HKSI Pro Cycling (HKS), China Hainan Yindongli – Wildto Cycling Team (YDL), China Continental team of Gansu Bank (GTQ), Ningxia Sports Lottery – Focus Cycling Team (NFC) and Qinghai Tianyoude Cycling Team (TYD), together with RTS-Santic Racing Team (RTS) from Taipei. Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia has all sent their local teams to ride at door.
The 3 UCI Pro-Continental Teams are strong as well. Last year, Nippo – Vini Fantini (NIP) – ITA took 2 stage wins, and Rusvelo (RVL) – RUS took one. Southeast (STH) – ITA is a young team first time at the tour. It has proved its competency earlier this season.
Some of the UCI continental teams have ride the tour in the past and have shown great confidence. Kolss -BDC Team (KLS) – UKR have won stages or jerseys in previous editions. Riders are specialized in either flat or mountain road. We look forward to their high-standard performance in conquering the Tour of Qinghai Lake.
