The second stage will start from Duoba national sports training centre and finish at Datong, a town known by Chinese folk culture.
Last year in Datong, Marco Benfatto from Astana Continental Team was the winner and it was Oleksandr Polivoda (KOLSS Cycling Team) who were wearing the yellow jersey.
West to Xining, Qinghai, Duoba National Sports Training Centre is perhaps the highest and biggest training place in Asia. It is used for TDQL before races to help riders get know the local weather. A number of Chinese riders made great achievement after trained here. Many professionals regard the place as a cradle for world champions.
Datong has a mixed culture of Han Chinese culture and foreign cultures. Datong has a vibrant folk culture. Famous cultural heritage here includes shadow art, Embroidery. The yearly Laoye folk song contest held here was listed as a national cultural heritage.
Stage 2 is a 188km-route. Riders will ride County Road 158 back to Xining, across Haihu Bridge and then follow State Highway 227 and arrive at the start of the final circuit which is also the finishing point of the race and where the three points classification are set. Riders will lap the circuit 3 times (14.2km*3) in Laoye Mountain Scenery Park. Average altitude of the stage is 2400m.
Laoye Mountain Scenery Park has the best viewpoint of this stage. The natural spot has the most beautiful mountain near Xining. It is known for its well-reserved natural heritage and unique cultural heritage.
