The Fourth TQL took place on July 16 th -24 th . Approved by UCI, it reached the highest category in the UCI classification for the Asian Calendar (2.HC), which was unprecedented in the development of Chinese cycling race. 119 riders in 20 teams including 7 UCI professional continental teams, 8 UCI continental teams and 5 national teams from 17 countries and regions participated in the race, which covered 1344km over 9 stages. |

The opening ceremony was held on the Square of Ta'er Monastery , the well-known scenic spot. CCTV and Qinghai TV Stations provided the a 90' live telecast. An exciting performance entitled “Beautiful Qinghai” started the event activities. |

Mr. Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC was present at the ceremony. Mr. Hein Verbruggen , UCI President, member of IOC and Chairman of Coordination Commission of IOC for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, visited the race and started the gun for a stage. |

The route of the fourth TQL, taking Xining as its center, covered 14 county areas, including Huangzhong , Qinghai Lake area, Xihaizhen, Guide, Minhe and Xunhua, which occupied almost half of Qinghai 's total land area. It attracted 80% of the province's total population. The altitude difference varied from 3200m to 3860m. |

It took full advantage of the province's sport, cultural, tourist and environmental resources to enhance the harmony between nature and human beings for the mandate of strengthening the sporting brand position of top-level event in Asia .
